A film show and discussion on Bat Trang ceramic village near Hanoi will be held at the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.
“Under the wind of globalization … Bat Trang, a Vietnamese village business” has been made by French directors Bernard Ganne and Paul Pénard.
It shows the traditional working conditions in the village as well as the development of new models and the impact on it of Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
It offers an overview of the changes, the advantages, and recent problems faced by a village business in a developing country amid globalization.
There will also be a discussion with Ganne who is also research manager of the French National Science Research Center.
Bat Trang has been famous for its ceramics for centuries. With the new open economic policy, businesses here have improved their manufacturing and sales processes.
Admission to the film will be free. The IDECAF theater is at 28 Le Thanh Ton, District 1.
